Portland, Maine – Voted “most liveable city” in April, 2009 by Forbes.com and Top Destination Spot by Frommer’s Travel for 2007.

The city includes an upscale waterfront district called the “Old Port”, one of the country’s most successful warehouse revitalization efforts. As you meander down the City of Portland’s cobblestone streets of yesteryear you can enjoy the succulent local restaurants, abundant hotel and inn accomodations, cafes and boutiques that will delight the most discriminating shopper, a fabulous selection of Maine brew pubs, and the official Arts District along Congress St.

Portland’s waterfront is still very much a working port, thriving with local fisherman bringing in the catch of the day.

History is also alive and well in Portland, Maine. “With the city’s constant attention to landmark preservation, modern buildings mix carefully with an array of 19th century architecture.” Portland’s Victoria Mansion has recently undergone renovations to preserve it’s history and the Portland Observatory, Tate House and Eastern Cemetary are visited by area school children each year. You can join the Old Port Walking Tours for a first hand look at Portland’s past.
